Adv. Nisreen alayan

Please join Lissan for an engaging and informative conversation with attorney, field worker, and public speaker, Advocate Nisreen Alayan. Alayan will be sharing her personal story as an East Jerusalemite, as well as the challenges and successes of women she has encountered through her legal career. Together with Talia Vekshtein, CEO of Lissan, we will explore the realities of education, employment, poverty, and motherhood in East Jerusalem, and how language can provide an opening for gender and social equality in the city.

Advocate Nisreen Alayan is an attorney, field worker, and public speaker from Beit Tzafafa. Alayan leads the East Jerusalem project at The Clinical Legal Education Center of the Hebrew University, representing residents living in poverty and dealing with social security, employment, court orders, and the Jerusalem Municipality. Alayan also manages The Clinic for Multiculturalism and Diversity, which promotes policies against discrimination on behalf of Palestinian, Ultra-Orthodox, transgender, and Ethiopian populations. Alayan holds a Master of Public Law from Tel Aviv University and Northwestern University in Chicago and previously served as an attorney and field worker for the East Jerusalem Project at the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI).
